Car Transport Service
If you move far away by airplane or boat, you may not have the ability to easily bring your car with you. In these cases, it’s useful to use a car transport service. These services will move your car from your old location to wherever your going to be at in the future.
There are many auto transport services that you can sign up for online. Generally, the service will send someone to pick up your car back at your old location, and then drive it cross-country to the new location for a fee. Many of these services will literally go from door to door, so you can have your car available straight from your new location.
Generally, a large truck with two levels will load your car along with many other cars onto its flatbed and bring it to your new location. It may be necessary in the case of some car transport services to meet the truck at a particular parking lot, if your new location isn’t very accessible to a large flatbed truck. It’s not a good idea to leave anything in your car during transport. This is because the items inside of the car itself are often not insured. They could be damaged in transit and then you’d have no recourse.
The car itself is usually insured by the car transport service. This ensures that there are no accidents during the journey that might cause damage to your vehicle that are the fault of the transporting truck. If there are, you will generally be compensated for the damage.
The time it takes for your vehicle to be transported is contingent on how far the car is going. Travelling from east to west coast in the United States, for example, can take somewhere between 5 and 10 days depending on the total distance. If you need your car moved from the northern part of the country to the southern half, it would take as long as a week. Transportation times for less-traveled areas in the mid-east or mid-west can take longer, between 10 to a maximum of 18 days on average.
